You Asked For 'Help'

Someone asked for help, but it doesn't seem to happen. Why?

Perhaps because the 'someone' asked the wrong way or perhaps the 'someone' isn't reading the responses.

Many times a question is asked about why something is/isn't working.  The question doesn't include any detailed information like what is the operating system, version, etc. This information is often critical for solving issues.  So the responders have to ask these questions as well as other pertinent needed information. (What was happening at the time the problem started, new programs installed, etc.)

Perhaps the most aggravating of all, the person asking for help does not appear to be reading the answers.  This could be because the answers are not what the asker wants to hear, but probably because the asker thinks the answers don't apply or he/she doesn't understand the responses.  In this case the person should let us know they don't understand so a more detailed response can be given.

If someone answering a question seems to be ignored, then perhaps no more help will be offered. That is certainly the case for me. If I respond to a question twice and am totally ignored both times, then 'That's it'.

There are also other reasons for the help to not be forthcoming. Sometimes responses are too confusing and sometimes there are conflicting answers or just too much information not pertinent to the issue is given. (Some members are a bit too wordy!) Then the uninitiated just gets lost and can't decide what is needed or not.
