Using a Spam Fighting Program?
While Spam is a major problem for a majority of users, there is one type of spam fighting program that can cause a member to be removed from a Yahoo or Google Group.
This is because of a behavior that is similar to that 'invites' sent to everyone in an address book.
Many people use the 'add the email address' to their address book when they reply to a post. This is probably not the best thing to do as it will result in a bloated address book filled with addresses for folks they don't know and will likely never use.
This is how those Social Networking sites get all those email addresses when a new member fails to use caution and provides the site with access to their address book.
In desperation due to an overwhelming amount of spam, some folks have resorted to spam filtering programs. While this may and probably will reduce the amount of spam that comes into their inboxes, the fact that they add all those email addresses to be sent a message similar to the following is going to irritate a lot of folks.
Hello,
You’ve just sent your first email to me since I’ve installed Bsafe Online’s spam killer. For this first time only, please help me add your email address to my approved sender list. Simply reply to this email with the following code in the subject line of your reply. (Code included along with the user's email address)
Another variation of the above message:
Hello (Name),
I use Boxbe (there are others) to manage my email inbox. While I did receive your email about "[Group name] Any subject that is in a post sent to the group", you are not currently on my email Guest List. I'll be more likely to see your email and future messages if you are on my priority Guest List.

The content of the message may be different depending on how the program is set up. The most irritating of all is the fact the recipient may have no idea who the sender is and may not have ever sent a email to the sender. Since members of a group or list often post or reply to posts, this will result in every one of these members receiving this message.
